Winding down

Our days are getting short as we prepare to take the boat out of the water and get ready for summer storage. The bay is getting more empty daily as our friends return to the marina and prepare to go home. We seem to be leaving a bit later than most with May 8 th being our flight date. We have dug out our lists from last season and will try to learn from our mistakes. Our main issue was the mould due to accumulation of water in the bilge. This year we are having a thru hull drain installed in the lowest spot in the bilge to try to avoid any accumulation. We have also hired a man Simon to care for the boat in our absence. He is a very reliable man and most of our friends here use him. He will also work on a long list of projects that can be done in the off season. Adding a solar arch to support the two new solar panels we have bought is top priority. He will work on the reinforcement of the transom for the dinghy davits. Yes a whole season of working on that problem. We have an extensive list in priority order and a dollar amount to spend and the list stops when the money runs out I guess. You could keep on upgrading for ever.
We had a great visit with our friend Serge from London for ten days. The weather was perfect and we had many sailing days as well as relaxing, touring days. He has sailed in Canada on the Ottawa River where tacking is a major sailing technique. He was shocked to sail from St Lucia to Martinique on a direct course not one tack involved. He took more than a thousand pictures that he will edit and forward to us so more to share later.

When we were at the Pitons our boat boy Shane provided us with a small fresh tuna that he cleaned. We cooked it the evening of the day it was caught and oh my quite delicious. We had enough for asecond  night to share with two more friends. All that for 40. EC about 16 CA. What a treat! Sorry I got no pictures because Serge was taking  a lot.

We are the one with the dark canvas on a mooring ball at the Pitons.
